Born in Montreal, Canada in 1960, Steven Woloshen is an award-winning Experimental Filmmaker and Animator.  He has been passionately creating handmade abstract films, documentaries and time-based installations for museums and galleries for more than 30 years. Woloshen has been a University lecturer, Juror for international Animation Festivals, Film Conservationist, animator, craftsman and author of Recipes for Reconstruction: The Cookbook or the Frugal Filmmaker, the filmmaker’s manual for decay, renewal and other handmade, analogue film techniques and recently, Scratch, Crackle & Pop! A whole grains approach to making films without a camera. This commissioned film is Woloshen's 52nd short film.

When working with our animators, we wanted to allow them the creative freedom to interpret the scenes in any way they wished. Instead of seeing a version of the scene they were to animate, storyboard artists were commissioned to create a visual guide for the animators.
