Honest and deadpan, Romy, 13, is Natalie’s youngest daughter. Despite being a gifted child, Romy begins the season haplessly stuck in summer school. Romy’s mind exceeds her capacity to process feelings, and she’d rather toil away on her (secret) graphic novel than engage with others. Hyper-aware of everything that’s wrong with the world, Romy absorbs everyone’s hypocrisy but lacks the emotional intelligence to withstand this unscathed. Romy shares a special bond with her Uncle Oliver and finds the courage to track down her estranged father, seeking to understand this man who abandoned her ten years ago. And when she decides that she doesn't like her mother's plans for the future, Romy sets out to chart her own course in life.
