New on CBC Gem: What to watch this summer

Nothing is better than spending your summer soaked in 1980's teen nostalgia, splitting your stomach in comedy bars, partying with the vibrant Canadian drag queen or Caribbean community, and getting to know the secrets of competitive swimming champions.
You don't need to leave home to experience any of this, with our line-up of comedy and drama streaming on CBC Gem. Here's what you can watch now, and stay tuned for what's coming this August.
This beloved teen comedy-drama starring Linda Cardellini, Seth Rogen, James Franco, and Jason Segel, follows a group of misfit high school students as they dealt with the struggles of growing up and fitting in circa 1980.
Decoys is a new comedy series set inside the world of competitive duck decoy carving. If you're a fan of mockumentary comedies like Best in Show, you'll find some good laughs here.
Chewing Gum (S1 and S2)
Before creating and starring in HBO's I May Destroy You, there was Chewing Gum, Michaela Coel's first series! In Chewing Gum, Coel plays Tracey Gordon, a 24-year-old religious Beyoncé-obsessed virgin. Growing up through the church, with her strict preacher Mother, she has ended up rather "underdeveloped" in certain areas - but Tracey wants more. We follow Tracey as she embarks on her journey into adulthood, crashing her way through what she should and shouldn't be doing.
Gemma and Kieran love each other deeply, but life in London is wearing them, and their bank account, down. To keep afloat they welcome Ray into their small flat. It turns out she's the missing piece of the puzzle: together the three of them just work. This isn't just a close friendship – it's the real thing. Can they live and love as a trio? Or will life get in the way?
Queens is a comedy-mystery whodunnit following an eclectic cast of Toronto drag queens leading up to the night of the "Miss Church Street" pageant. Each episode focuses on the misadventures of a particular drag performer whose preparation for the pageant is interrupted in a strange and unfortunate way.
Twelve rising Canadian comics bring their diverse backgrounds, viewpoints and unique comedy styles to the stage in 10-minute sets.
Mohawk Girls - Season 1 (S2 coming August 4)
Mohawk Girls centres on four twenty-something Mohawk women trying to find their place in the world, and of course, trying to find love. But in a small world where you or your friends have dated everyone on the rez, or the hot new guy turns out to be your cousin, it ain't that simple. Torn between family pressure, tradition, obligation and the intoxicating freedom of the "outside world," this fabulous foursome is on a mission to find happiness...and to find themselves.
Fortitude - Season 2
The islanders have overcome the parasite threat and they're doing their best to keep going. They've wiped out any trace of the wasps - the source of the contamination. But now an evil spirit has descended upon Fortitude and its inhabitants, and a strange new figure has appeared in town hell-bent on destroying it.
Follows the lives of four teenagers, their teachers and families in the aftermath of a nude teen photo scandal. Tackling themes of misogyny, online exploitation, sexuality and sexualization, the series offers a vital portrait of modern, multicultural Australia.
Young and Promising - S3 (S4 Coming August 14)
The stories of friendship and love continue for friends Elise, Nenne and Alex as they deal with being far apart from each other.
Line of Duty - S3
Police anti-corruption unit AC12 returns for another thrilling investigation. Sergeant Danny Waldron (Daniel Mays) and his armed response team fatally shoot a hardened criminal, but soon cracks appear in their story. What are they hiding?
DaVinci's Inquest - S2
It starts with the puzzle of a dead body. The detectives of Homicide may have some of the answers; the pathologists have others. Ultimately, it is Vancouver coroner Dominic Da Vinci who must ensure that the dead are given a name, and the lessons from their passing are not forgotten.

Game Face - S2 (Coming Aug 7)
This comedy follows Marcella as she spiritedly crashes her way through life, assisted by her dubious life-coach, best friends and ever-patient driving instructor.
Ackley Bridge - S3 (Coming August 7)
As Ackley's senior year students enter their final year, they all face questions about their future. But who will reach for the stars and who will be left behind?
Barracuda (Coming August 14)
Based on the provocative novel by acclaimed writer, Christos Tsiolkas, and re-uniting key creatives who brought us The Slap, Barracuda is an unflinching look at Australia's national obsession with sporting heroes. It's a brutal clash of cultures, dreams and expectations and the relentless demands we place on our young athletes, their families, schools, friends and coaches.
Da Kink In My Hair (S2 Coming August 21)
Da Kink in My Hair II follows the lives of a group of women who let their hair down in more ways than one at "Letty's", a vibrant and bustling hair salon in Toronto's Caribbean community. Novelette, the nurturing and tell-it-like-it-is owner, must put out bigger fires this season as she tries to run her shop, raise her son, have her first relationship in years, and still provide the answers to her clients' dilemmas.
