Giancarlo Esposito is probably best known for playing Gustavo "Gus" Fring on Breaking Bad, the critically lauded AMC series that also starred Aaron Paul as Jesse Pinkman.
When he was in the red chair, George played him a clip from another show where he and Paul shared the screen: the CBS drama Ghost Whisperer. Both actors appeared in a single episode called "Fury," in which Paul's character beats up and eventually kills Esposito's character, who's his co-worker.
"Such an important episode," Esposito said after seeing the clip. "Ghost Whisperer, really great show. I like to align myself with stuff that deals with a little bit of justice, has some kind of key of looking at ourselves in real-life situations. And Aaron was certainly great in it. Boy, that just moved me to see that.
"I remember dying at his hands in that particular alley. We beat the crap out of each other. And he missed once and got me with a two-by-four in the back of the head, and I missed once and slammed his head into the cement. But we were both conscious people, even at that time, and we had to cry it out at the end of a long night of beating each other up. We wound up in each other's arms, just crying some tears."
Esposito is currently starring as Tom Neville in the NBC series Revolution. His interview on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight airs Tuesday April 29 on CBC TV.
