submit to reddit

Actor Mandy Patinkin sits down with George to talk about turning 60, starring in the hit series Homeland, and the famous words of his beloved character Inigo Montoya, the vengeance-seeking, sword-swinging Spaniard in 'The Princess Bride'. In this clip, Mandy talks about the legacy of 'The Princess Bride', and reveals his favourite line in the movie (and no - it's not the one you think it is!)

Watch the full interview with Mandy Patinkin Monday, March 25, 2013 on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight at 7 p.m. (7:30 NT) and 11:30 p.m. (12 a.m. NT).

In this clip, Mandy talks about...

Hardly believing he was in 'The Princess Bride'
MP: I tell ya - a day doesn't go by where somebody does't talk to me about The Princess Bride. In some form - ask me to say something, whatever. And every time they ask me, including this moment - I can't believe it's me you're talking about! I can't believe that I'm the guy in the movie! And I'm in every single copy of every DVD that's out there! (laughs)

His father's influence on 'The Princess Bride'
GS: In that movie - because you lost your father young - in that movie you were avenging your father's death - there was some of that. When you were making it, was that in you at all?
MP: You bet your ... heart! (laughs)
GS: May I also bet my ass?
MP: I didn't know what time this show was on! I don't know what the rules are! (laughs)

His favourite line
MP: I hear the guy, who's played by me, say this line. And it, to me, it becomes the line of the film, and of my life ... and the line that I love the most in that movie is; "I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it is over, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life."
