Pulitzer-prize winning author Jeffrey Eugenides talks about his experience being a part of the most famous book club on the planet.
In this clip, Jeffrey talks about...
The difference between himself and Jonathan Franzen (author of 'The Corrections' and 'Freedom')
"Oprah came about seven years after the book was published and after it won the Pulitzer so I didn't have the 'Franzen problem' feeling that it was co-opted, just as it was coming out - it had already lived its life, to a certain degree, and then it brought another readership to it. So I was happy about that."
An important conversation
"She of course used the show to highlight the intersex issue - and that's sort of in keeping with her philosophy - so I think it was good in terms of the book's social message."
