George A. Romero On ‘The Walking Dead’

Legendary 'Night of the Living Dead' director and zombie master George A. Romero talks about the popularity of the AMC TV series 'The Walking Dead', explains why he turned down the chance to direct an episode, and reveals a surprising connection to 'Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.'

"Yes, [I was offered the chance to direct] an episode, but that's once the bible is written... I said no, because it's not my thing. And, in fact, I thought it was a little to close for comfort. So I basically said no."

"Most of the people that are working professionals in media today - from Pittsburgh - worked for Fred [Rogers]. All of us started with Fred. Fred was a wonderful - he was a wonderful guy."
