Tomorrow, October 4th, is the 60-year anniversary of the death of Henrietta Lacks, the Virginia-born woman who was the involuntary source of a line of cancerous tumor cells used to this day in medical research.

Her story, as told by author Rebecca Skloot in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, made multiple bestseller lists and won a slew of awards.
