If you've seen 24 Hour Party People, you might remember Peter Saville as the guy who designed the infamous record sleeve for New Order's "Blue Monday" — a sleeve that was so expensive to produce that label Factory Records lost money on each sale (they later switched it up to a cheaper version). And even if you haven't seen the movie, you'll no doubt recognize some of Saville's iconic album cover designs for bands like Joy Division, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Duran Duran and Wham! Last night at a talk in London, Dezeen reports, Saville let slip that he was working on developing a visual identity for one of today's most design-savvy pop stars: Kanye West.

"He loves architecture and design, he loves [the Swiss modernist architect] Le Corbusier," Saville said. "He'd get Le Corbusier to do a building for him if he could." According to Dezeen, the collaboration is wide-ranging and open-ended, and not merely focused on a single logo or record label. One inspiration for the pair, it turns out, is the famous Yves Saint Laurent logo with the overlapping letters. "He wants a YSL," Saville told Dezeen.

Kanye's most recent album, Yeezus, is notable for its strikinginly minimalist design: a clear CD jewel case with no album artwork at all, something that Saville proposed but never used for a New Order single back in 2001.
