Tweeting The Passing Of A Parent: NPR’s Scott Simon’s Compelling And Compassionate Messages

Scott Simon, the host of NPR's Weekend Edition Saturday, has been tweeting from the intensive care unit of a Chicago hospital for the past few days.

Simon has taken to Twitter to document his final days with his mother, Patricia Lyons Simon Newman Gilband. Sadly, she passed away on the evening of July 29.

With more than 1.2 million followers, Simon's account has been dedicated to his observations about keeping his mother company as she goes through the final stages of illness, sharing insights, moments, and words from his mom.
