Grade 5 Student Donates Savings to Save Teacher’s Job

No doubt about it, the kids are alright. A 5th grade student in California found out that her local school district was laying off teachers at her school.

So, she decided to do something about it. Jocelyn Lam donated all of her savings - $300 - to save her teachers' jobs.

She also included a handwritten letter addressed to the local school board and superintendent, explaining what the money was for. And now, her generosity has spurred her community into action and other students are doing the same. Here's a video of Jocelyn and school officials talking about what she did.
