We wanted to congratulate some friends of the show, who were winners at the second gala of the Canadian Screen Awards.

Rick Mercer and his team at the Rick Mercer Report won three awards, including...

Best Performance in a Variety or Sketch Comedy Program or Series
Best Music, Variety, Sketch Comedy or Talk Program
Best Writing in a Variety or Sketch Comedy Program

In this clip, he talks with George about how politics in this country has changed - and not for the better.

The great Gordon Pinsent won for his guest role on CBC-TV's Republic of Doyle. Here he is in the red chair talking about Justin Bieber, Hollywood, his daughter, and what he's learned in life.

Former Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall, who was raised in Canada, was given a special achievement award.

Here she is talking about dating former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau.

The legendary Christopher Plummer took home the award for Best Performance in a Performing Arts Program in The Tempest.

Here he is talking about booze, and how Hollywood has lost some of the fun he once enjoyed.

The HBO Canada series Call Me Fitz, starring Jason Priestley, won four awards. Here he is talking to George earlier this season.

Best Writing in a Comedy Program went to Mark McKinney (of Kids In The Hall fame) for Less Than Kind.

Here he is talking about his days at Saturday Night Live, and being naked on stage.

Wendy Crewson won Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Program for Saving Hope.

In this clip, she stands up for Canadian television, Canadian stories and Canadian culture.

And Sean Cullen won Best Performance in an Animated Program for Almost Naked Animals.

Here he is with Something You Might Not Know About Canada - when this country was invaded by the Irish.

The awards continue on Sunday night, with the third gala hosted by Martin Short (who's in the red chair tonight).

You can watch the awards show on CBC at 8 p.m. ET. Make sure you watch as George is nominated for 'Best Host in a Variety, Lifestyle, Reality/Competition, Performing Arts or Talk Program or Series'.

The Canadian Screen Awards are a combination of the old Genie and Gemini Awards, and feature awards in 46 categories focused on drama, comedy and children's programming.
