Are you part of a new musical act hoping to break big across Canada? Well, there's a CBC Music competition for that.
Searchlight is an annual talent search that attempts to find Canada's best new artist. The big prize? $20,000 worth of gear from Yamaha Canada Music, a festival gig, a recording session and a song of yours entered into rotation on CBC Radio 3.
Last year's winner was Sherman Downey and the Ambiguous Case, who won for their single "Thick as Thieves":
Starting next week, each CBC Radio One station in cities across the country will launch its own contest to choose a local champion to advance to the national round, but you can head over to CBC Music now and submit early. Submissions close on March 23, and voting starts the next day. Good luck!
