Well, here's a sobering thought for all you parents out there. According to a new study in the U.S., more than 700,000 American kids between the ages of 12 and 14 are drinking alcohol. And almost all of them get it for free, either from their parents or from their parents liquor cabinet without permission.

It's not clear why parents are giving their kids alcohol but some experts say it's the old idea: "better for them to drink at home, as opposed to at some party or out on the street." That's a reasonable argument, just not when they're 12! But remember, this is an American study. Fortunately, here in Canada, alcohol and beer simply aren't part of the culture.
