VIDEO OF THE DAY: Have I Heard This Song Before?

Do you ever get the feeling that the melody of that tune you're listening to isn't exactly ... original? That Song Sounds Like is a whole website dedicated to identifying tunes that share the same melodic structure, and they created this video to break down one very specific melody that has been repeated pretty much identically in a bunch of songs, by artists as wide-ranging as Survivor, Cat Stevens, Coldplay and Joe Satriani.

When Satriani noticed the similarity between his song and Coldplay's, he filed an unsuccessful lawsuit alleging the band had stolen his work, but listening to this compilation, it seems like the melody was out there years before Joe got to it. For more songs that sound like one another, visit the That Song Sounds Like site.
