At some point when we weren't looking, Zach Galifianakis became one of the hottest comedians in Hollywood.
The Hangover was by far the highest-grossing R-rated film of last year and Zach was the film's breakout star. But make no mistake, he paid his dues. Zach bussed tables, worked as a nanny and spent 15 years as an alternative comic. In a way, he followed in the footsteps of the late Andy Kaufman with a style that was smart, absurd and sometimes confrontational.
He dabbled in TV, on shows like Boston Common, had a small role in Sean Penn's Into The Wild and starred in videos for Fiona Apple and Kanye West.
Then he landed on Hollywood's radar for real with the web comedy Between Two Ferns, a series of hilariously awkward interviews he does with celebrities.
That led to films like The Hangover and Dinner For Schmucks. And now, It's Kind of a Funny Story - a comedy-drama about a depressed teen who checks himself into a mental hospital and is befriended by a fellow patient, played by Zach.
