But with the fame and fortune came a serious backlash. Haters called him a one-hit wonder, a wannabe, a fake rap Elvis. And when the records stopped selling, Rob Van Winkle turned to drugs and attempted suicide. But at some point Ice decided to own his past, to laugh at the haircuts and the parachute pants. He has since been embraced by the public and has enjoyed a successful second act as a reality TV star and home reno guru, and now has a new venture, Vanilla Ice Goes Amish.
