We've all been asked the question, "Who would you want to play you in a movie?" For MP Olivia Chow, the answer to that question is Sook-Yin Lee. And they're both in the red chair.
In 2011, Olivia gave her blessing for CBC to produce the biopic 'Jack', a portrait of the late NDP leader Jack Layton and his relationship with Olivia that was so beautifully woven through his life and work.
Sook-Yin Lee, whom you know as the host of 'DNTO' on CBC Radio, took on the role of Olivia with curiosity and gusto. Olivia spent time on the set of the film, advising the actors on Jack's unique mannerisms, and she even lent out pieces of Jack's clothing and other personal effects to make the story feel as authentic as possible.
'Jack' airs Sunday, March 10 at 8 pm right here on CBC.
