Let's get this out of the way, right off the top: Robert Herjavec is a very wealthy man. He's got the house, the sports cars, and the powerful friends to prove it.
But Robert wasn't born with a silver spoon - far from it. He actually grew up on a small farm in communist Yugoslavia, back when the family garage was filled with tractors, not Bentleys.
At age eight, he and his parents set sail for a better life in Canada, first arriving in Halifax, and then moving to Toronto.
Along the way, young Robert learned a thing or two about the value of hard work. He put himself through university, and graduated, but didn't bother with any business training. Turns out, he didn't need it.
In 1990, Robert started his own IT security company, BRAK Systems. Ten years later, Robert sold his company for a lot of money (some reports pegged the deal at 100 million dollars.) In 2003, Robert started another IT company, The Herjavec Group, where he continues to serve as CEO.
On top of all that, he's appearing in the 5th season of Dragon's Den, as well as the American version of the show, Shark Tank. Now, he can add author to his long list of achievements: he's written a book called Driven: How to Succeed in Business and Life.
