We don't know about you, but 'The Facts of Life' was a big part of some of our childhoods - with one of the catchiest TV theme songs ever. And the girls at Eastland Academy? One of the most irresistible casts ever. You had snobby Blair, rebellious Jo, roller-skating Tootie, and the wise-cracking Natalie Green.
In real life, of course, Natalie is Mindy Cohn. But do you know how Mindy got the part? Thank Charlotte Rae - Mrs. Garrett - for that! She was doing research for the show at Mindy's high school, and apparently, was so taken with Mindy, she convinced the producers to create a role for her!
'The Facts of Life' ran for nine seasons - until 1988. But Mindy didn't disappear after that. Besides all the re-runs, Mindy and the girls reunited for a TV movie in 2001, and a few years back, she popped up in 'Sex and Death 101.' And you might recognize her voice as Velma in 'What's New Scooby Doo' - which got her a daytime Emmy nod.
Coming up, she's got the lead in the movie 'Violet Tendencies'. And right now, she's hitting the stage - in the play 'Glorious' in Toronto.
