Guest Lloyd Robertson

For more than 40 years, Lloyd Robertson was a nightly fixture in many a Canadian home. Before the cable-news channels, before blogs and Twitter, Robertson was one of the voices helping to make sense of your world every night.

First, here at the CBC, then at another network, Robertson was one of the longest-serving anchors in North American television history. And when he was inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 2007, it was another news icon - Walter Cronkite - who paid tribute to him.

Robertson calmly guided generations of Canadians through many of the biggest moments of the past half century: from 'Trudeaumania' to the 'Marathon of Hope,' from triumphs like the moon landing to the horrors of 9/11.

And of course, he had that iconic sign-off: "And that's the kind of day it's been."

Now, Robertson is sharing his inside stories from the newsroom in a new memoir called 'The Kind of Life It's Been.'
