If you're ever looking for a living, breathing crash course in how much TV's changed over the past 25 years, Lauren Holly is it. When she started on the small screen on All My Children, the soap opera was king and the laugh-track was everywhere.
By the time the '90s rolled around, and TV was becoming more about storytelling, Lauren
landed on 'Chicago Hope', where she played a plastic surgeon. From there she went to 'NCIS' - the #1 scripted show on TV last year - she was supposed to be a guest star and ended up staying for three seasons.
Now, you probably remember Lauren from a little film called 'Dumb and Dumber'. She co-starred with Jim Carrey - and not just onscreen, as it turns out. They were married for a couple of years in the '90s. Lauren was actually offered the female lead in 'Ace Ventura', but she turned it down...not the greatest decision, she admits.
These days, Lauren's reclaimed her TV roots. She plays the lead medical examiner, Betty Rogers on a new crime show called 'Motive'.
