Guest Don Newman

For over 20 years, the go-to guy for Canadian political junkies was Don Newman. Winnipeg-born Newman served as Senior Parliamentary Editor for CBC Television News, hosting a string of shows from our nation's capital that helped bring the often strange and complicated world of Canadian politics into the nation's living rooms. He knew everyone in politics and interviewed most of them, too. In his new memoir, Welcome To The Broadcast, Newman recalls those years on The Hill, and also earlier times: his childhood in London, Montreal, and Winnipeg; his early years in journalism, reporting in Winnipeg for the Tribune and the Free Press, and later, the Globe and Mail and in Washington as correspondent for CTV news, all of it told with the directness that made Don Newman one of the country's most trusted voices in journalism.
