On the show tonight: These days you can catch Lance Reddick playing the head of a very special investigations unit (can you say "weird science"?) on TV's Fringe, but he was also much-beloved as Cedric Daniels, the intense leader of another investigative team on The Wire. In this clip he talks about why he got involved in the cult-favourite show - plus we play a surprise clip from The Wire's outtakes.
On why Lance won't get sick of talking about The Wire:
"It's such a milestone in television history, it would be foolish of me to be anything but honoured to be part of it."
On the diversity of The Wire's cast:
"In the nineties there was this huge explosion of black talent in Hollywood, and so when we were shooting it, particularly when we started shooting it, I didn't really think too much about that this is unique, that this is a successful dramatic series that's starring mostly black people. I wasn't thinking about it that way. I was thinking more that this is one of the best things that's ever been on television, and I know it. It's funny, I remember when I read the pilot, I didn't want to do television -- which is funny because my career has been ninety percent television for the past 10 years -- I just wanted to do theatre and film, and when I read the pilot I thought I have to be on this show, the pilot is that good."
