Exciting news about George's summer vacation plans: he'll be hosting a brand new show on CNN.

The weekly, one-hour series will air Friday nights, with George taking his signature interviewing style south of the border.

"I feel really lucky to have been in broadcasting for 20 years in Canada," George says, "and I'm excited to now also bring our conversations with people making the biggest news in entertainment, politics, sports, and pop culture to a whole new audience."

"Congratulations George on this incredible opportunity," said Kirstine Stewart, Executive Vice-President, English Services, CBC.

"Just as George continues to inspire, engage and entertain Canadians on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight and The Strombo Show on CBC, now viewers across North America will have the chance to watch him on CNN every week."

"George is, and always has been, a connector, emergent in all areas of popular culture, on both a national and international level," the CBC said in a statement.

"This opportunity is a testament to George's distinctive voice and appeal, which clearly resonates with international audiences."

"We know from experience that George's authentic personality and insightful interviews are what viewers want to see, and we're thrilled that viewers in the U.S. will have the chance to experience it, as well."

The series will run for ten episodes on CNN, airing at 9pm ET Fridays starting May 31st. As for the format, CNN says it will "offer a fresh perspective on the interview and talk show format."

Vinnie Malhotra, senior VP of development and acquisition for CNN Worldwide, talked about the network's excitement for the new show.

"George is genuinely interested in everything, which makes his interviews informative and entertaining explorations," Malhotra said. "This compelling series is a sharp, creative addition to our summer Friday schedule."

But don't worry. Our man is coming back for another season of George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight in the fall, as confirmed by Kirstine Stewart on Twitter:

Believe it or not, it'll be our 10th season.

And because George never seems to rest, tomorrow he'll be in Ottawa doing a Q&A session with Oprah for her latest Canadian speaking tour.

Here are the dates: Ottawa April 10th at Scotiabank Place, Montreal April 11th at the Bell Centre, Hamilton April 13th at Copps Coliseum and Saskatoon April 14th at Credit Union Centre.
