Sassy Spring Toppers

With spring right around the corner, we enlisted super stylist Erica Wark to show you the top toppers of the season. The key? Stay on trend by thinking outside the box!

Erica Wark's favourite vest, blazer and trench coat for spring.

The Vest

What it lacks in material it makes up for in dimension when layered with a great button-up or sweater.

Above, at left: Izzy oversized sunglasses, BCBG Max Azria; Whitney Moto vest, Tatum shirt, Bucket bag and belt, all Club Monaco; Emily colour-block scarf, Banana Republic; floral-trim cami, Jacob; broken-in straight khakis in Hot Coral, Gap; Chiou loafer, Aldo.

The Blazer

Break out of the office rut. A blazer also makes a great spring jacket, providing instant structure to any outfit.

Above, at centre: floral silk-satin blazer, Zara; Kayleen silk top in Bright Emerald, BCBG Max Azria; Goddess necklace and ring, both Banana Republic; white wide-leg pant, at Holt Renfrew; Jentry tote and Lettiere mid-heel in Orange, both Aldo.

The Pseudo-Trench

The classic trench doubles as a fabulous dress when fully buttoned.

Above, at right: Betsy dress, Rachel Sin; jewellery, at Holt Renfrew; clutch, Club Monaco; Harvat wedge, Aldo.

Erica Wark's favourite anorak, colourful coat and sequined topper for spring.

The Anorak

The Anorak is back and better than ever. With its bat-wing sleeves and cape-like feel, it's the perfect layer for those cool spring mornings.

Above, at left: dotted wool scarf in Blue, Banana Republic; Michael by Michael Kors zip anorak, Michael Kors; striped T-shirt, Jacob; 1969 Perfect Boot jean, Gap; Kezele cross-body bag and Kopelman floppy hat, both Aldo; Hunter original tall gloss rain boot, at the Bay.

The Sparkly Stunner

What better topper for a strappy number on a crisp evening out than a great studded or sequined jacket?

Above, at right: leather pleated skirt, wrap blouse, beaded jacket, all at Holt Renfrew; jewellery and clutch, both Aldo.

The Colour Statement

Matchy-matchy is out; mix-and-match is in! A colourful coat will look great even when paired with seemingly contrasting shades.

Above, at centre: purple trench coat, at the Bay; all-over lace shell cami in Cocoon, The Mad Men Collection rose print cardigan, cigarette pant in Majesty and floral brooch, shoes, ring, straw fedora and belt, all Banana Republic; Picketpin handbag, Aldo.
