The Best Makeup Brushes

in

Your makeup is only as good as your brushes, says beauty expert Sandy Gold. Don't forget these three must-haves when stocking up your makeup bag.

Sandy Gold's favourite makeup brushes.

1. Big, Fluffy Powder Brush

Use this brush to apply powder products, such as translucent powder, powder foundation and/or bronzer. Because it needs to cover such a large area, make sure to choose a brush that is big, fluffy and soft for a nice, even application. Sandy recommends: Sephora Collection Pro Natural Domed Powder Brush #59, $36.

2. Blush Brush

The secret to achieving beautifully flushed cheeks is to use two brushes: one to apply and one to blend. Use a small, flat tapered brush to apply the colour as it will fit perfectly on the apples of your cheeks. Then use a fluffy brush to blend the colour out and to apply highlighter to the tops of the cheekbones. Sandy recommends: The Body Shop Blusher Brush, $24.

3. Eyeshadow Blender Brush

This brush is your eyeshadow's best friend. Use it after you've applied all of your eye makeup to blend everything together and diffuse any harsh lines. Sandy recommends: The Body Shop Eyeshadow Blender Brush, $18, or Sephora Collection Pro Oval Blending Brush #27, $20.
