Festive Family Party

The Festive Family Party look

Holiday dressing isn't always about sequined dresses and cocktail parties. There are still plenty of events — that we want to look our best for — that don't call for a black tie dress code.

’60s mod-inspired silhouettes and shapes are such a big trend this season so Sarah started this party look off with a fun printed mini skirt. To keep this look sweet consider cool, flat booties like these ones in suede with studded details.

A new shirt silhouette that we're seeing so many iterations of lately almost resembles a sweatshirt, but what makes this piece so special for the holidays is that it's finished in a rich blue velvet that feels totally dressed up and festive.

For a bit more festive sparkle, Sarah picked up on the gold metallic studding detail in the booties and echoed it with a metallic bag and necklace to pull everything together.

Tux Redux

The Tux Redux look

This is tuxedo dressing with a twist, by adding super soft and chic pieces.

This would be an easy look to transition from your desk to a holiday work event. For the day, simply pair the pants with an oversized turtleneck sweater and then swap it for a bow neck silk blouse and jacket.

Because there is definitely a menswear influence in this look, it's important to feminize it with accessories.

This jacket would look great with a pair of black trousers but to spice things up for the holidays, Sarah used these velvet flared pants in a regal purple hue. Flares are such a figure-flattering style that makes them a winner this holiday. Tip: you’re going to see even more of this style for the coming season.

More is More

The more-is-more look

Holiday dressing is the perfect opportunity to have fun with fashion — remember that it's more important to think about creating an interesting mix than minding fashion rules!

So here Sarah took a 'more is more' approach and pulled together a look where every single piece was a standout. It's not matchy-matchy but at the same time, it feels cohesive.

This look starts with a skater skirt in this incredible print that feels like a cool twist on a Nordic print. Sarah teamed it with this super chic sweatshirt with jeweled neckline. The 'swanky sweatshirt' trend is a must-have for this holiday and eliminates the need for a necklace.

The finishing touch to this look is the metallic biker jacket that strikes the perfect balance between edgy and chic. This is a cool piece you could get so much wear out of throughout the party season.
