1. Nosara, Costa Rica

Located further south from the volcanic beaches in the north, Nosara's beautiful sands and waters offer great options for relaxation and adventure. You can try taking a surfing lesson or nurture your inner Zen with yoga.

You can also drive to nearby beaches with boutique accommodation options available in Playa Samara and Carillo. From there you can also drive to Punta Islita with its local art community.

5. Chiang Mai, Thailand

Chiang Mai is the largest and most culturally significant city in Northern Thailand. With an incredible night market, elephant reserves, and different types of accommodation to choose from, you should plan for at least a 10 day getaway. You could also make day trips to any of the 300 wats (temples), or take a cooking class at a local restaurant. Combine this area with a short flight south to one of the islands Ko Phi Phi or head to Riley Beach for a great time!
