Repurpose Your Old T-Shirts
If you have old t-shirts kicking around it's time to re-purpose them into new useful things. Our Frugalista showed us how — or at least she tried to show us how, despite Chris' antics.
The Turband
- Remove the bottom hem from an old t-shirt.
- Cut a three inch (or longer) band from the t-shirt bottom.
- Hold the t-shirt loop open, twist it once or twice, and then overlap the ends.
- Ta-da! You have a turband!
Bracelets
- Remove the bottom hem from an old t-shirt.
- Cut one inch t-shirt strips.
- Stretch each strip to polish the edges (you end up with a nice looking loop).
- Fasten three t-shirt strips onto your table with some tape and then braid the strips.
- Use different colour electrical tape to tie off the braid and from into bracelet.
Tote Bag
- Fold your old t-shirt in half so the sleeve are on top of each other.
- Cut out the sleeves and neck to form a tank top — this is how you create the handles for your tote bag.
- Turn the shirt inside out and sew shut the bottom.
- Turn the shirt right side out and you're done! Go shopping with your new tote bag!
