Repurpose Your Old T-Shirts

If you have old t-shirts kicking around it's time to re-purpose them into new useful things. Our Frugalista showed us how — or at least she tried to show us how, despite Chris' antics.

The Turband

  1. Remove the bottom hem from an old t-shirt.
  2. Cut a three inch (or longer) band from the t-shirt bottom.
  3. Hold the t-shirt loop open, twist it once or twice, and then overlap the ends.
  4. Ta-da! You have a turband!

Repurpose Your Old T-Shirts: Bracelets

Bracelets

  1. Remove the bottom hem from an old t-shirt.
  2. Cut one inch t-shirt strips.
  3. Stretch each strip to polish the edges (you end up with a nice looking loop).
  4. Fasten three t-shirt strips onto your table with some tape and then braid the strips.
  5. Use different colour electrical tape to tie off the braid and from into bracelet.

Tote Bag

  1. Fold your old t-shirt in half so the sleeve are on top of each other.
  2. Cut out the sleeves and neck to form a tank top — this is how you create the handles for your tote bag.
  3. Turn the shirt inside out and sew shut the bottom.
  4. Turn the shirt right side out and you're done! Go shopping with your new tote bag!
