The Ultimate Trail Mix
Trail mix is a great post-workout snack, but some store-bought versions have added ingredients like sugar, salt and fat. When you make your own you know exactly what's in it and can add exactly the ingredients you love in the quantities you prefer. Here are some great ingredients you can use to make your own trail mix, combining equal parts or adjusting to your preference.
Almonds
- High in protein
- Rich in fibre and B vitamins
Walnuts
- High in protein and fibre, and Omega 3 fatty acids
Pumpkin Seeds
- Good source of protein, iron, zinc, magnesium
Sunflower Seeds
- Contain an essential fatty acid, an excellent source of fibre, high levels of protein and minerals
Apricots
- Excellant source of fibre, high levels of potasium, iron and antioxidants
Cranberries
- High in fibre and antioxidants
Raisins
- Rich sources of energy, vitamins, minerals, and anti-oxidants
Pretzels (Optional)
- Will add a nice savoury crunch
Dark Chocolate Chips (Optional)
- Will add nice sweetness to mix
