Laughter Yoga

They say that laughter is the best medicine, so we invited yoga instructor Salimah Kassim-Lakha to our studio to spread some joy with Laughter Yoga.

What is laughter yoga?

"Laughter Yoga was developed in India by a medical doctor who was researching the healing effects of laughter. It is a form of exercise that uses laughter without the need for jokes or comedy. The basic premise behind Laughter Yoga is the body doesn't know the difference between real laughter and pretend laughter. The key is to laugh regularly for at least a minute.   Practicing laughter-based exercises boosts the immune system, relieves stress, creates connection to other people. There is one thing that people all over the world find funny - and that is the sound of other people laughing. Your laughter becomes service to the world. As you spread your joy, other people are uplifted on a mass level. It is a step toward eradicating violence around the world."
