Zane Caplansky’s Homemade Applesauce
This full-flavoured applesauce is perfect for brisket, latkes or just for the heck of it!
Ingredients
2 litres apples, peeled and cored
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon cloves
pinch salt
Preparation
- In a large pot, simmer apples on low heat until soft.
- Purée until smooth with immersion blender.
- Test the seasoning after blending and adjust if necessary.
- Serve with latkes or alone.
- Double check for any apple chunks when portioning for storage in litre containers.
