Ramen Banana Split
Think outside the bowl! Matt Basile is taking ramen noodles to a whole new level — a deep fried dessert level. His creation tastes similar to a funnel cake and makes a great addition to a banana split.
Ingredients
2 bananas, sliced lengthwise
1 cup all purpose flour or white rice flour
1 cup water
1 egg
pinch salt
generous pinch sugar
1/4 cup icing sugar
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 pack instant ram noodles
500 mL toasted coconut ice cream
1 cup 35% cream
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
drizzle dulce de leche
Preparation
- Heat a Dutch oven with two inches canola or vegetable oil to 350-375 F.
- Mix flour, water, egg, sugar and salt together in a bowl.
- Slice bananas in half lengthwise, dredge in the flour mix and then coat in batter and transfer to fry. Cook until golden brown and then remove.
- Take cooked ramen noodles and add them to the fryer. Also cook until golden brown.
- Mix ginger to icing sugar and sprinkle some on top of ramen, save remaining sugar for other servings.
- Heat one cup of cream over stovetop and add chopped chocolate and ground cinnamon, stir until combined.
- Assemble banana split and add three scoops of coconut ice cream.
- Drizzle with chocolate sauce and dulce de leche.
- Garnish with toasted coconut.
