Pizza Dough Cinnamon Buns

in

There's nothing better than the aroma of freshly-baked cinammon buns right out of the oven. Kary Osmond uses storebought pizza dough for this quick and easy version that's fun for the whole family to try together. The best part is with pizza dough, you can skip the hard step and get right to the good stuff!

Ingredients

1 pound store bought pizza dough
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
pinch salt
1 tablespoon melted butter
1/2 cup plain cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon milk
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar

Preparation

  1. Grease an 8 x 8 inch pan, set aside.
  2. Mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Place dough onto lightly floured surface. Shape dough into a rough rectangle with the long side nearest you. Roll or stretch dough into a 10 x 20-inch rectangle on a floured surface.
  4. Brush dough with melted butter and sprinkle sugar mixture evenly over dough.
  5. Beginning with long edge nearest you, roll dough into a tight cylinder with the seam-side down, use parchment paper to guide you. Very gently, stretch until cylinder is 20 inches in length.
  6. Using a knife, slice cylinder into 1-inch thick slices. This should give you 20 buns.
  7. Arrange buns cut-side down in greased baked dish; cover tightly with plastic wrap and set aside until slightly puffed up, about 30 minutes.
  8. Meanwhile, mix together cream cheese, milk, and sugar in a small bowl until smooth.
  9. Remove plastic wrap and bake in preheated 350 F oven for 40 minutes.
  10. As soon as they come out of the oven, top buns with sweetened cream cheese frosting and serve.

Serving Size: 20 buns
