Garlic Prep Tips

Chef Lynn Crawford shares some tips on one of her favourite ingredients: garlic.

Garlic Prep Tips

Porcelain, purple and elephant garlic are commonly found in grocery stores. The flavour intensity ranges from size, with elephant garlic being the mildest to porcelain bein very pungent.

To keep your garlic bulbs fresh, store them in a wire basket at room temperature. Garlic will last two to three months if stored this way.

Minced Garlic

Mince your garlic at the beginning of the week and store it in your fridge for up to a week. A quick way to get flavour in your dinner dishes. If you don't have time to mince, use a rasp or garlic press for a quick fix.

Garlic Smell

Garlic can leave a fairly strong smell on your hands. After use, rub your hands on a stainless steel sink or bowl, then wash with soap and water to get rid of the smell!
