Citrusy, Sweet Tamarind Cocktail


Master mixologist Simon Ho takes our tastebuds on a trip around the world with his tamarind and cachaca cocktail.

citrusy_sweet_tamarind_cocktail1.jpgTamarind is the fruit of a tree that grows in Asia and North Africa. Its pulp becomes extremely sour when dried and is often used in cooking as a replacement for lemon juice.

Cachaca hails from the other side of the globe and is very popular in Brazil. The spirit is made from fermented and distilled sugar cane juice.

4 lime wedges
2 orange wedges
1 tsp tamarind
1.5 oz. cachaca
1 oz. simple syrup

  1. Add lime, orange and tamarind to a shaker glass. Muddle.
  2. Add ice, cachaca and simple syrup. Shake well.
  3. Pour everything into a tumbler or rocks glass. Top with more ice. Cheers!
