Rent this Tiny House for the Weekend

Ever wonder what it’s like to live in a tiny home? If you’ve been inspired by our Tiny Home Tuesday stories but aren't ready to dive into the tiny home movement just yet, an American start-up company is letting curious urban dwellers escape from the city and rent a 160-square-foot home starting at $99 USD a night.

This new company is called Getaway, and its founders are a mix of business, law, and design students from Harvard University’s Millennial Housing Lab.

Ovida is the project’s first tiny home, and “she” is located in rural New Hampshire for the perfect city getaway. The home is just 160-square-feet but there is enough room for four people to stay.

By mid-August of this year, Getaway plans to open its second tiny urban escape — called Lorraine — located less than two hours from Boston.

In an interview with Curbed.com, Getaway’s CEO Jon Staff said the project isn’t just a lodging rental service like Airbnb, but it is more about creating change in the industry of housing.
