The Best Dressed Holiday Table

The key to the perfect holiday table? Personality. With bright, bold pops of colour, custom accents and, of course, a little sparkle, your holiday feast is sure to be one your guests won't soon forget!

Pick a palette and stick with it.

Whatever colour scheme you choose (we're all about purple this year), stay true to it throughout. Layer varying shades, tones and patterns all within the same family.

Create a centrepiece your guests will really appreciate.

Here's an easy DIY: Set out a tray stacked with wrapped gifts. These can be purely decorative or parting favours for your guests. When dinner is ready, simply remove the tray to make room for the food.

Create interest with layers.

Layer each place setting: Start with a charger, then add the dinner plate and napkin, and finish with a custom cracker to add visual depth to your table. To customize your cracker, simply wrap a store-bought favour with your dinner menu. (Click here to download our menu template.)

All that glitters is gold.

We absolutely love some sparkle on our holiday table. Don't be afraid to pull out all the stops. Use your best stemware along with any other crystal accents you have around the house (ours are from the Swarovski Crystalline Collection) to add that seasonal shimmer. For an extra bit of bling, steal some crystal ornaments right off the tree! We used Swarovski Little Star ornaments to adorn our gift-wrapped centrepiece.

Go green.

Instead of the usual centrepiece treatment, bring attention to your floral arrangement in an unexpected way. Bend an 8.5- by 11-inch piece of card stock into a cone, secure with hot glue and affix to each chair with a ribbon. Fill with greenery. Attach a custom name tag to each (click here for template) to finish off these attention-getting place cards.
