When it comes to design, Andrea says the rule of thumb is: wear it today (fashion), sit on it tomorrow (décor), drive it next year (the auto industry). We love seeing fashion trends pop up in décor, so Andrea brought in some of her current faves to share!


Trend #1: COLOUR!



Andrea's tips for designing with COLOUR:

• Mix colour in blocks such as painted furniture (this is a great way of decorating with antiques or upcycled pieces) and add "painterly" prints in cushions, such as the ones featured here.
• Painterly prints work well with neutral seating with simple lines.
• To keep this look modern, anchor it with a hint of black or white, or go for a more eclectic look and try mixing prints with solid colours.
  

Trend #2: RUFFLES





Andrea says RUFFLES are forgiving in both fashion and in décor - they give you a glamorous look with minimal effort. This look is perfect for a bedroom.

Tip: To avoid looking too bridal-suite, choose darker, moody colours such as greys and blues.


Trend #3: ANIMAL PRINT & KHAKI



Our personal favourite! This "utility" look is a great integration of leather and fabric.
Andrea's tips:

• Add in natural, grainy wood furniture.
• Incorporate hardware and metals as a design feature (so very Hermes!) 
• The current trend is to mix in the animals - but be sure to keep the colour families and tones the same.
