Nutritionist Peggy K says hair trouble is one of the most common problems she gets asked about! So whether your hair is thinning or greying, or whether it's too greasy or too dry, these recipes can give your locks some much-needed love.
Smoothie 1 (cup) frozen strawberries
1 frozen banana
2 (cups) vanilla almond milk, unsweetened
1 (tablespoon) almond butter
1 (scoop) Vega One powder in French Vanilla
Lentil Chili 3 medium onions, chopped
2 green bell peppers, seeded and chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
4 (cloves) garlic, minced
2 (cups) lentils, cooked
1 (cup) chickpeas, cooked
1 (cup) black beans, cooked
2 (cans) crushed tomatoes
1/2 (teaspoon) sea salt
1/2 (teaspoon) ground black pepper
2 (tablespoons) chili powder
2 (teaspoons) ground cumin
1 (tablespoon) pumpkin seeds , toasted
1 (teaspoon) hemp seeds
Kale Salad 1 (bunch) kale
1 (pint) cherry tomatoes, halved
1 avocado, pitted, peeled and cut into bite-size cubes
2 (teaspoons) salt
2 (tablespoons) lemon juice
1/3 (cup) hemp seeds
To taste cayenne pepper
1 (teaspoon) kelp granules (optional)
Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Assemble ingredients and blitz in blender.
Sautee onions until tender in large pot over medium heat.
Add garlic, peppers, celery, carrots and season with oregano, salt and pepper and sautee untill vegetables are cooked through.
Add tomatoes, cumin, chili powder and beans.
Bring to a boil then, reduce heat to low. Simmer 45 minutes.
Sprinkle pumpkin and hemp seeds on top as garnish.
Kale Avocado Salad
De-stem kale and tear into small pieces.
Massage with salt until wilted.
Add lemon juice and massage again.
Add olive oil and hemp seeds and mix well.
Top with chopped avocado, cherry tomatoes.
Season lightly with kelp granules and cayenne.
