Paint the wall black or grey Painting a wall black is definitely "edgy" but it is also timeless and elegant. It provides the perfect neutral backdrop and stage so the furniture pieces pop.

Consider a vintage desk Many desks are very heavy and suited to men alone and desks designed for women are often too feminine. Look to a vintage piece, specifically pieces from the Art Nouveau or Deco periods, for the right balance of masculine and feminine.
