Jacques Villeneuve will drive in NASCAR Nationwide series events at Montreal and Road America, the former Formula One champion said Tuesday on his website.

Villeneuve will fill in for Penske Racing driver Brad Keselowski in the No. 22 Discount Tire/Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger.

Road America, where Villeneuve won twice on the defunct CART series, is on June 25 while the NAPA Auto Parts 200 in his hometown of Montreal is on Aug. 20 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, the road course named after his father.

"I am really looking forward to joining Penske Racing and getting a chance to race at two of my favourite tracks," Villeneuve said.

The 1997 F1 champion has made eight NASCAR starts over the past four years, five of them in the Nationwide series.

He finished third at last year's event in Montreal.
