Kühner and his 10-year-old gelding, set off at blistering pace, crossing the finish line ahead of Brazilian Marlon Modolo Zanotelli to etch his name atop the leaderboard.

"I bought Elektric Blue [Elektric Blue P] when he was a two-year-old," Kühner said following his victory. "He's always done everything very well, he was always a very good horse, and he never disappointed me. He has unbelievable possibilities, as jumping is quite easy for him."

The Dutch Masters is the first of four grand slam events held throughout the show jumping season. The next event is set to happen at Calgary's Spruce Meadows in September.
