D.C. United's Dwayne De Rosario named MLS player of the month

The Toronto native had four goals and two assists for D.C. United in six matches in May and has five goals and a league-leading eight assists this season.

Canadian international Dwayne De Rosario has been named Major League Soccer's player of the month.

The Toronto native had four goals and two assists for D.C. United in six matches in May.  De Rosario, the reigning league MVP, has five goals and a league-leading eight assists this season.

D.C. meanwhile went 4-2-0 in May to move atop the Eastern Conference.

De Rosario edged out San Jose forward Alan Gordon for the award.  Columbus's Andy Gruenebaum, Seattle's Fredy Montero and New York's  Kenny Cooper and Ryan Meara also received votes for the award
