A runner celebrated his way to a loss on Saturday at a meet in Eugene, Ore.

While competing in the men's steeplechase event, University of Oregon runner Tanguy Pepiot raised his arm to celebrate his victory as he led runners towards the finish line at the Pepsi Team Invitational.

Unfortunately for Pepiot, his celebration slowed him down enough for Washington runner Meron Simon to catch him and win the race.

It was a tight finish with Simon beating out Pepiot by only 0.10 seconds.

The mistake was hard to take for the young runner, as Pepiot was visibly upset by the defeat.
