Chen won her second straight gold medal in the 58-kg category and broke two Olympic records in the earlier final.

Chen's total lift of 244 kg surpasses her previous mark, set at the 2004 Athens Games, by 7 kg. Her lift of 138 kg in the clean and jerk also set a new Olympic standard.

Russia's Maria Shainova took silver by lifting a total of 227 kg, while O Jong Ae of North Korea lifted 226 kg to win the bronze.

Zhang, who won bronze at the 2000 Sydney Games in the 56-kg category, lifted 143 kg in the snatch, and 176 kg in the clean and jerk on Monday for a total of 319 kg.

Salazar Diego of Colombia took the silver with a total of 305 kg and Trityatno of Indonesia won the bronze with a total of 298 kg.

The latest gold medals in weightlifting were the fourth in three days for the host nation. Chen Xiexia won the women's 53-kg competition on Saturday and 17-year-old Long Qingquan followed up with a second gold on Sunday in the men's 56-kg category.

Earlier on Monday, Montreal's Francis Luna-Grenier lifted a total of 293 kg to finish second in the Group C standings of the men's 69-kg category.

Luna-Grenier, 21, lifted 131 kg in the snatch and 162 kg in the clean and jerk. He'll await the results of an additional 22 competitors in his category who are competing in two other groups on Tuesday.
