TIMELINE: The death (and rebirth) of Pat Burns on Twitter
The (mis)Information Age tried to claim another life on Friday — weeks after a social-networking wildfire spread about the 'death' of Canadian songwriting legend Gordon Lightfoot, they tried to take away three-time NHL coach of the year, Pat Burns, with a flurry of tweets just before noon ET.
The following are a selection of chronologically organized tweets that break down what transpired when some members of the media reported Burns had expired.
(Note: CTV Ottawa and Team 1040 in Vancouver were the first to 'break' the 'news' but both have since deleted their original tweets.)
