Thomas Hickey delivers monster hit on Jonathan Drouin

In Game 3 between the New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning, Thomas Hickey landed a monster hit on Jonathan Drouin that had fans flooding the Internet with their opinions.

Fans expected a nail-biter as the The Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Islanders faced off in Game 3 of their second-round series, each with a win so far. But New York's Thomas Hickey raised the bar and brought it to a whole other level.

With the game tied 1-1, Hickey demolished the Lightning's Jonathan Drouin with a monster hit in the second period:


Drouin immediately felt the effects.


The internet went to work and almost immediately #Drouin started trending.




If you're an Islanders fan, the hit was clean:


If you're a Lightning fan, you're outraged:


In response, the Lightning scored just minutes after.


But clearly the Islanders weren't going down without a fight.


Drouin displays his playoff toughness and returns to the ice half way through the 3rd period.
