Victor Hedman's eye protection nearly costs him his eye
Swedish defenceman requires 4 stitches after broken visor leaves nasty gash across face

What do Victor Hedman, Scar from The Lion King, and Le Chiffre from Casino Royale all have in common?
They all came dangerously close to losing an eye.

Hedman, the Tampa Bay Lightning's Norris Trophy-finalist defenceman, suffered an ugly cut during a game against Italy at the world championships on Friday.
A collision at centre ice caused his visor to break in half, slicing him right below and above his left eye. Any closer, Hedman would have been in a lot more trouble, but luckily his eyeball remain unscathed.
The laceration required four stitches, and Sweden went on to defeat Italy 8-1 moving up to second in Group A.
